Top 10 Games Not Showcased at E3 2007

The top 10 games that were strangely missing from E3 this year.

When E3 ended this year, it finished up without too many new titles being announced. Outside of Silent Hill 5, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaro’s Treasure, and Wii Fit, it was a lackluster year for gamers that thrive on ‘megaton’ announcements.

Matter of fact, I believe the largest problem with this year’s E3 was the absence of several key titles. So with that said, we’d like to present our top ten games that weren’t showcased at E3 2007.

#10: Alien RPG / FPS Projects (PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360)
At the end of 2006, SEGA made a popular announcement that they were pursuing development in both the RPG and FPS genres based on the Alien franchise. Excitement rose even higher when they announced the developers for the two projects: Gearbox (Brothers in Arms) and Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2). With the classic sci-fi franchise transitioning to the next-generation consoles, fans are foaming at the mouth for new information. They’d even go stir crazy over a single screenshot, but alas, they are stuck with news of the forthcoming games. For now, SEGA has provided a hub for all Alien information at the official website.

#9: Cry On (Xbox 360)
Originally, Cry On was in development at Cavia, but Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy, handed over the project to Artoon after being pleased with their work on Blue Dragon. To date, there have been only a few scarce plot details revealed. For one, players will assume control of Sally - a young girl living in a world where people live amongst giant sand creatures. Another vital detail is that players will have control over Sally’s own sand creature named Bogle. Mistwalker has also added Nobou Uematsu, music composer of Final Fantasy, and Kimihiko Fujisaka, the character designer of the Drakengard series to the project. One thing is guaranteed - Mistwalker has big things in store for Cry On.

#8: Marvel Universe Online / DC Comics MMO
This leads us to the number eight spot which is taken by two similar titles that are in the works. The first one, Marvel Universe Online, is being developed by Cryptic Studios (City of Heroes) under the watchful eye of Microsoft Game Studios. The other is an untitled DC Comics MMO under the direction of Sony Online's Austin Studio.

Marvel Universe Online of course deals with the Marvel Comics Universe. Cryptic has revealed that over 60 years of authentic Marvel history will be integrated into the game. Right now, character creation is up in the air and fans want answers. Rumors are suggesting that Cryptic will allow players to assume roles of their favorite Marvel character but only one person can assume that role for the server (ie. only one Wolverine). Microsoft has the title positioned to exclusively release for Windows Vista and Xbox 360.

Who will you be in Marvel Universe Online?

Even less information has been provided about the DC MMO. At this point, Sony is targeting the PC, Playstation 3 and PSP for platforms. Sony also recently announced that they are working with legendary comic book illustrator Jim Lee on the project. Jim Lee, artist for 2005’s best-selling comic book in the U.S., All Star Batman and Robin, is filling the role as Executive Creative Director. With not much information outside of which platforms and the developers behind the games, comic book fans are left with much to wonder.
