EA May Walk Away from Take-Two Deal

Another day, another rumor where a potential EA-Take Two merger is concerned. Stock site Seeking Alpha reports on what it calls an unusual change of shares.
The site learned the price drop of Take-Two shares stemmed from reports that the on-again, off-again merger talks between Take-Two and EA are off again. Both companies had been engaged in private talks after numerous deadlines EA had set in hostile takeover attempts expired.
The rumors about EA walking away caused Take-Two shares to drop from $24.51 to $21.34 per share. The way these talks have gone though, it would be impossible to conclusively say things are over.

Reuters reports that Tecmo has let Square Enix's takeover bid expire and instead appears ready to merge with Koei. Tecmo execs say Koei has a "greater chance of boosting corporate value" than Square Enix. Really?
Um, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts on one hand. Dynasty Warriors and Kessen on the other. Call us biased against Dynasty Warriors, but which one seems more valuable to you, readers?
Square had offered Tecmo $206 million on "friendly" terms to get the deal done. They've not giving up without at least trying their limit break attack on Tecmo. Square says its next step is to learn more about Tecmo's rationale. Then Square will decide how to proceed from there. Stay tuned because this one isn't over.
Thailand Bans More Games in Wake of "GTA" Killing
Posted by Brian Allen 3 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes ago.

CNET's Techology Thailand blog tells us that the government's Ministry of Culture has banned five video games:Hitman,Hitman:Blood Money,300, Killer Seven and 50 Cent:Bulletproof.
The bannings are in response to a 19-year-old who allegedly murdered a cabbie last month and reportedly told police the killing was inspired by Grand Theft Auto.
It looks like tough times are ahead for Thai gamers as the government appears ready to roll the industry back to Pac-Man days. An official press release from the government says gaming is "obsessive and has an adverse effect on the behavior of children and teens." Of course, somebody should have banned just the general concept of 50 Cent: Bulletproof a while back anyway.
