"Is that a PSP in your pocket or are you just happy to play me?"
Back in the old days it was all about racy playing cards. See kids, before home computers soft porn was relegated to nudie magazines and other forms of non-digital entertainment. In the early eighties premium channels like Showtime and HBO unleashed a barrage of skin flicks into everyone's home and it was all downhill from there. In this new multimedia age with the internet and all its many extensions, mental masturbation is just a mouse-click away. Now, thanks to Pocket Pool it's simply a slow slide of your PSP's power button away.
Getting the urge while waiting at the bus stop? To borrow a line from The Pretenders, "You got motion with restrained emotion" to satisfy that lustful, morning ride to work. Pocket Pool, developed by Hyper-Devbox and published by Conspiracy Entertainment, attempts to merge two of your darkest and most devious desires; hot, half-clothed, female models and big balls... and by that of course, I mean billiards. Originally released in Europe by Conspiracy Entertainment, Pocket Pool unapologetically stretches out its hand and tries to tap into that oh so coveted 18-32 male demographic.
Just considering the premise of the game, it seems like a misstep in this new "Wii inspired world" where moms, daughters and grandmas are considered an important demographic for gaming companies, and some might think this game sets that progress back. At any rate, I'm tackling this review from the perspective of the target demographic group. Sorry ladies, maybe the next iteration of Cooking Mama for the DS will offer buff, nude guys for you to ogle while baking cookies.

The game of pool has never been a difficult or complex game to translate into a video game. From a graphical context, if you have seen a real game of billiards played, played a game yourself in the real world or played on a gaming console you will feel right at home. The table is displayed on the screen, inside various venues that really have no bearing on the overall experience. An avatar is displayed for the character you select, as well as the avatar of your opponent if you are playing against another human opponent on Wi-Fi or the AI in single player.
